All About KM PBIS
|
About KM Tier OneTier One services are universal behavioral interventions that all students receive. All students are explicitly taught WAVE expectations in every area within our school at the beginning of each trimester through a PBIS Kickoff.
These FINTASTIC behavior expectations are clearly displayed around our school and reinforced by our students and staff. These WAVE Expectations are shown in the link below. |
Cool Tools
A "Cool Tool" is a data-driven behavioral intervention developed by our Tier One Team. Each month, the Tier One Team reviews the behavioral data of our students. We analyze the data to look for trends, such as areas of the school, time of day, day of the week, grade-level of students, etc. We then develop a behavioral intervention to address the area of concern and monitor data to determine its effectiveness.
Examples are shown of general data (right) with a complementary Cool Tool Video (below). |
PBIS Works at Kenneth Murphy
Kenneth Murphy began fully implementing PBIS in 2014-2015. Through the efforts of our Tier One Supports and Tier Two services, Kenneth Murphy has seen a decrease in behavior problems, as indicated here by reduced office referrals.
Bully Prevention at Kenneth MurphyKenneth Murphy uses the PBIS Bully Prevention Program "Stop Walk Talk." This program includes monthly lessons on topics including gossip, physical aggression, and cyberbullying. This program is dedicated to "giving students the tools to extinguish bullying through the blending of School-Wide Positive Behavior and Intervention Supports, explicit instruction, and a redefinition of the bullying construct." Bullying lessons are typically conducted on the first Wednesday of each month.
